Hi Jim, To find Lync on your Mac: Open Finder and type “Lync” in the search box and you can find it the “on my computer” tab. Open Activity Monitor when Lync starts, find Lync and double click on it then, click on Files and Ports.

  • When we first announced Lync Server 2010 last November, we talked about our commitment to supporting multiple platforms and how over the course of 2011 you would see Lync become available for other platforms. Today, I’m excited to share with you today that Lync for Mac 2011 has been Released to Manufacturing, commonly referred to.
  • Microsoft Lync for Mac gives you instant messaging (IM), audio and video calls, online meetings, availability (presence) information, and sharing capabilities all from one, easy-to-use program. It’s a slimmer version of the full Lync client and provides the same core functionality.
  • Lync for mac free download - macOS Catalina, Lync, Microsoft Lync 2010 (64-Bit), and many more programs.
  • Adium is a free Lync for Mac alternative that doesn’t leave you tearing your hair out like Lync for Mac. With the release of Office 2016 For Mac, there was some hope that Microsoft would finally update Mac users from clunky old Lync 2011 for Mac to either Skype for Business for Mac or at the very least, Lync 2016 For Mac.

Microsoft has rebranded its unified communications client, Lync, as Skype for Business. As of January 22, 2017, if you're running Windows, you'll see the Skype for Business interface. Lync for Mac still works to access IU's UniCom service.

Both Lync for Mac and Skype for Business allow you to:

  • Chat using instant messaging
  • Make PC-to-PC phone calls
  • Make video calls
  • Share files
  • Share your desktop
  • See others' availability and manage the information others see about you
The features you can use depend on which mode you're using, UniCom Basic or UniCom Enterprise Voice; see IU UniCom feature comparison. Students are eligible for UniCom Basic only.

Microsoft office home & business 2016 for mac. However, the 'Belongs to:' section when clicking on 'About Microsoft Word' states that the subscriptionbelongs to my student Office 365 account, rather than my personal email address for the subscription I purchased from a retailer. What can I do to correct this? When I activated the Office Home & Business 2016 on my Mac I signed in using my personal email address, not the Office 365 studentemail address.

Lync For Mac Settings

IU faculty and staff can obtain Lync-compatible devices (USB devices or IP phones) by going through their department telecommunications coordinators and/or their ITPros. For more about available devices, see About office telephone equipment at IU.
